Hi Bruce, No need to fully explain to all Sweet fans the reasons for playing your music obscure or not. Any real Sweet fan loves you guys anyway. Admittedly i realize you do have to please many people and the new fans (younger ones) i am sure would really appreciate all the classics. Loved hearing COCO COCO and Poppa Joe. I attended your gigs in Melbourne on 19Nov , 21Nov and 22Nov couldnt make the 20Nov gig. Had an amazing time front row each night. So great to meet you all after the show and talk to you without being just like a number. You guys care about your fans witch is not common in the music industry. You may remember me Bruce you gave me your drum stick after the 22Nov gig signed to PAUL from Bruce. Have some good pics of you and me and the band members. If you need email me to : south_yarra_travel@bigpond.com When are you coming back?

Hi Andy,Bruce,Peter & Steve. Just like to say i had an amazing time at your Melbourne concerts. Was present on the 19Nov,21Nov and 22Nov re-gigs. I cant beleive how addicted i have become to your music again. I was planning on flying to Sydney and Queensland to see the remainder of your shows but after hearing they had been cancelled i was literally devastated. Sorry you had problems with managers/promotors here. You may remeber me Andy you was able to copme back stage on the CChlesea heights night gig and you signed my light green tee-shirt to Paul from Andy SWEET. Bruce also gave me his drum stick and Peter was so freindly to talk to. Have many pics to refresh your memeory. If you need any just email me: south_yarra_travel@bigpond.com I have seen well over 200 concerts in 30 years including all the big acts and to be honest Sweet still rule regardless of line up changes over the years. I saw you back in the 70's during my mid teens and still get a buzz with your music. Just one last note i personally thank you guys for coming out to Australia and also for your personal touch with the crowd and after gig meetings. Please come back again soon. P.S Any plans to tour here again?

Regards PAUL Rogers (Your no.1 Australian fan)
As a big fan of Sweet's albums it therefore seems I also have a debt of gratitude to Quo. I especially like their 1978 album "If You Can't Stand The Heat which, according to Wikipedia, features Steve Lange, who also features on another 1978 album I rather liked.

Happy New Year to you and Spike too.

I agree that Status Quo are a great band. I am actually seeing them in March when they come to Melbourne Australia. Though I will also say that I think the Sweet could've really paved their own way. That's just my opinion as I think you were great enough.
Hoping that you'll come back to Melbourne Australia again soon, your recent shows here blew me away. From the Sweet back then when you started, this line up now has been the best since. Also since the Sweet shows here, I'm waiting to see what will REALLY impress me. So far nothing yet.

Thanks for your Christmas greetings from this Sweet fan, Andy. A great year in which I saw you in concert.
I was amused to see you quoting Frank Zappa in your blog. He was a legend, as you are yourself, and some of his CD's sit proudly next to the 50 or so of yours and the rest of Sweet's in my collection. He was a brilliant guitarist and composer and also one twisted "Mother" (if you'll excuse the pun).
Hope you are also having a good one.
Gordo
PS I got your most recent solo CD and have quite enjoyed it, especially the last three tracks. On the down side, it doesn't have you and the rest of Sweet singing lead like Kudo does, but its still great to have new material from you.
PPS Then again maybe you should just "Shaddap and Play Yer Guitar". (Another Frank pun - in case you didn't get it).

Nicely put! Evolution or revolution? The former is driven by need - the latter...?

LOVE that Zappa song - from the Apostrophe album, an absolute belter!

We all wish you well too, Andy!

All the best for 2010,

Hey Andy,
I know this is an older post, but I just read the comment on the critique of Ball Room Blitz.
And I say the critique is rubbish!!
I don't know where it charted here in the states, but I can tell you it was a hit.
That song was playing every where and it is in my opinion a Rock anthem.
I was just a teenager then but man what a song.
Congrats on your 60th and congrats on being apart of Rock history.

Just a point to add to my second suggestion (which hasn't and I guess won't be published on the net) is that this sort of CD could also be sold at the shows too. There are fans like me who would buy both CDs, but it appears to me that there are also some older fans that may just buy the album tracks since they have enough different copies of the singles already (let's face, it there are heaps of them out there).
It also seems to me to be a great way of getting fans (including the younger ones of which there were a few at the concerts) to move beyond the hits and better known material. If they heard a great live version of Heartbreak Today, 4th of July, Mother Earth, Tell the Truth or Love is the Cure played by the current band on a CD they purchased at a concert and thought what great songs, the next thing they might be wondering is where these tracks came from. They might then want to get hold of those albums. You would be providing a link for them to move beyond the hits they hear in concert to the rest of the excellent Sweet catalogue. A "second" seed would be planted to follow on from the first seed which is the form of the hits CD. Next thing you might see a few of them buying 50 to 100 different Sweet releases like myself. Sweet's material is easily good enough to do that to you.
I think it would also be a great thing for fans like me who have a very substantial portion of what Sweet has released already as it would also supply great alternate live versions from the current band, which I really think is top notch. I also don't know of any live version of Medusa, 4th of July, Mother Earth, Tell the Truth or Love is the Cure since the old concerts were framed largely around the same tracks and the latter songs didn't exist. There are versions of some of these tracks like on the album "According to Sweden" but they are not of the same quality as the current Sweet line up could produce and this resource therefore largely remains untapped. All in all it would provide that extra dimension for Sweet fans if they wanted it and also give the rest of the Sweet catalogue a lot more currency.
Hope you can give this suggestion some real consideration. I would love to be able to pick up that extra CD next time you tour Oz (if I hadn't already picked it up a bunch of them from the internet shop).
Best regards
